Dear Friends,

Last year Shey took up a collection for a friend who needed a lift. We'd like to do the same for her now. As some of you may know, Shey's professional digital camera was stolen from her luggage on the way back to medical school from a friend's wedding. She had brought along because her small point-and-shoot had died the week before. She put the camera in her luggage because her backpack was filled with textbooks. And, of course, that's when it got nabbed: somewhere between Boston and Grenada. Both lenses in other cases were still in the bag when she opened it, but the camera itself was gone.

Shey's been taking photos since she was 16. She'd probably never admit it, but not having a functional camera, for her, is a little like having one of her senses severed. Some of the shots she's taken are on this page.

If we each chip in something, given the number of people Shey knows, she'll be able to pick up a decent camera. And she'll have the satisfaction of knowing, every time she uses it, that her friends got together and made the magic happen.
